After finding this information, I decided to look directly into the
households to find more data. I found data from the Census website on
people in households that were natural born, adopted or step children. I
thought that people who were natural born, adopted, or step children in
households, correlated highly with the AIDS rate. The only factor that
correlated was step children with a confidence interval of 90% and a
negative correlation coefficient of -0.285888. The only way that I can
explain this is to infer that step children have many psychological
problems with the knowledge of one parent not being in the household.
They may be more rebellious to the natural parent for remarrying and the
step parent for taking their other parent’s place. They may be more
rebellious and more apt to go and engage in promiscuous activities,
while not thinking rationally. This data was very interesting, so I
decided to include it in my study.
