All in all, this “Bridge to Prevention” campaign would cost Pittsburgh a
total of $78,228 in order to include the peer referral program, the
church compensation and testing, and the port authority bus boxes. This
price seems incredibly reasonable, as it is less than the cost of only
one lifetime HIV patient ($618,90011)
and helps to prevent the furthering of HIV/AIDS in this highly affected
Northside community. Hopefully, with the employment of the “Bridge to
Prevention” campaign, the zip code 15233 will slowly creep back down to
somewhat average levels, and not the astounding 1804.76 per 100,000 –
over five times the national rate (Table
1.5, Table 1.2).
