Another program that would be useful for Northside in addressing the spread of HIV/AIDS is one I like to call “The Bridge to Prevention.” This program would encompass all prevention strategies used in Pittsburgh, and would be the basis for support groups and educational pamphlets all on a widespread campaign to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in 15233. The “Bridge” not only refers to the many bridges in the Pittsburgh area, but also to the sense of networking associated with AIDS. Each new case of HIV or AIDS is a bridge from someone else, as HIV and AIDS are sexually transmitted diseases. So by starting a “Bridge to Prevention,” the Northside community would be beginning a pathway towards improvement in the HIV/AIDS status of Allegheny County and Pittsburgh.
