VI. Conclusions The total picture of AIDS in Pittsburgh provided by these correlations shows that, as in the entire United States, the rates tend to be higher among homosexuals, African Americans and other minorities, and the disadvantaged. While this may not be surprising, it is still important information to know before attempting to solve this difficult problem. The neighborhoods of Manchester, East Liberty (see photos), Edgewood, and the North Side (see photos) would all have to be addressed in a city-wide AIDS prevention program, as the problem is greatest in these areas. When creating a plan to tackle AIDS and HIV in Pittsburgh, the special circumstances that exist within all groups at risk must be considered to fight AIDS most effectively.
