On the first day of class I was asked to estimate the cumulative AIDS rate in my zip code area, 13205, since 1980, I estimated 20,000 cases. Since 1980 the cumulative AIDS cases in my zip code area is 105 cases (1).My overestimation came as a complete shock to me because I truly felt that I had been aware of the global impact of AIDS. I knew all the basics; that it stood for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and that treatment was limited. Once individual was infected he would eventually succumb to an outside disease. http://www.esf.edu/urban/images/cityair.jpg To truly understand the AIDS dilemma, I must first understand the AIDS impact in my hometown
