AIDS is a problem for all demographic groups in Somerset County, NJ; the African American women, however, currently need the most help. The women are unaware that their present sexual behaviors put them at risk to contract HIV/AIDS. The sexual risk reduction program will provide them with the necessary information regarding risk behaviors, condom education and serves as a support system for women in controlling relationships. Ultimately, women need to know they are not alone and that they do have control over their sexual lifestyle, and therefore have the ability to protect themselves. Now is the time to acknowledge steps can and must be taken to stop this epidemic. The time is now. |
