The cumulative AIDS rate for the black population was fourteen times higher than that of the white population, indicating there would probably be a strong correlation between percent black population and cumulative AIDS rate. The correlation coefficient between the cumulative AIDS rate and the percent black population is 0.808, which is significant at the 99% confidence interval. The correlation coefficient between cumulative AIDS cases and percent white population is -0.737 which is significant at a 97.5% confidence interval.
