"Sorosilicates" or "Disilicates": couple silicates - Si₂O₇

tetrahedra arranged in groups of two, that share one point between them:


Si:O ratio is 2 : 7

Example of a Sorosilicate:

Epidote -actually mix of isolated tetrahedra and "soro-linked" tetrahedra
Ca₂ Al₂(FeO)(SiO₄)(Si₂O₇)(OH)

- The sorosilicate group does not include many minerals
