Weekly Response Essays
For each week's class, prepare a 1 page, double-spaced, typed essay that responds to the question posed about the reading assignments (see Lectures, Exams, and Reading Assignments for each question) - bring a hard copy to class as these will form the basis for each class's discussion. Your first paragraph should give a brief summary (entirely in your own words) of the reading assignment and conclude with 3 questions you would pose to the author(s). Take care when preparing your essay by having read the assignments critically and by doing a thorough proofreading of your essay to delete any typographical or grammatical errors. Please make absolutely sure that your essay is written entirely in your own words and phrases! Intellectual content and care with grammar and spelling will be the basis for my weekly assessments. That said, these response essays are NOT mini-research papers. You should be able to read the texts assigned and craft a summary as a personal reflective response to each question without going to other references.
