The next problem area of Syracuse consists of 13210, home to Westcott and the gay community of central New York. Men who have sex with men accounts for nearly 44% of all AIDS cases in Onondaga County. While there isn’t the issue of poverty, crime, and decay as in 13202, this serious problem among the gay community needs to be combated primarily with some form of education for those gays who have HIV/AIDS or are at risk of contracting the disease.

The last major AIDS problem in the Syracuse area encompasses those area codes between 13202 and 13210. These areas combine all the problems thus far of destitution, crime, heightened AIDS rates among homosexuals, and overall lack of knowledge about the disease. In area codes 13203, 13204, and 13205, there are currently over 250 inhabitants who have HIV or AIDS. This region is the final area of focus on what should be done to combat the disease.
