1920s Advertisement Analysis

During our study of the 1920s in U.S. History, I asked students to analyze an ad from the time period and reinterpret the advertisement either for today or using a different advertising technique. Students had choices of ads including one for a car, a radio, make-up and breakfast cereal. In this way, students were encouraged to both interpret and create; this Dewey-inspired assignment gave my students a chance to personally engage with the material.
