"The chemistry lab notebook represents the permanent, accurate record of all your laboratory work. Consequently:

  1. the notebook should contain only material related to the chemistry laboratory; it must not contain notes or data from other laboratory courses.
  2. all entries must be recorded in non-erasable, waterproof, blue or black ink.
  3. entries should be made directly in the notebook, not transferred from other paper.
  4. "original" white pages must never be removed from the notebook, whether the page contains entries or not.
  5. mis-written entries must be crossed out with a single line or large "X" with the revised entry written next to, not on top of, the old entry. One should be able to read the original entry. "White-out" is not to be used.
  6. keep an up-to-date table of contents.

"The instructors will spot check the laboratory notebook several times during the course as well as access the lab notebook during check-out. Of the 200 total lab points, 5 lab points are allocated for lab note book style and format "
