Hi there…this is my attempt at a web page which will hopefully bring more awareness about water management. What is "water management"? Let me tell you, it’s not the most exciting thing in the world, but it is a solution to salvaging one of our most invaluable resources…WATER!! So, we have to "manage" what precious little we have, as well as we can. Here are some links to some FABULOUS web sites, as well as access to current and recent legislation on water management, ways to get in contact with your congressmember, and perhaps just a little enlightening experience. Enjoy…

Legislative stuff that counts

HR 3243 IH A bill to authorize the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to make grants to State agencies with responsibility for water resource development for the purpose of maximizing available water supply and protecting the environment through the development of alternative water sources.

S 1230 IS A bill to amend the Small Reclamation Projects of 1956 to provide for Federal cooperation in non-Federal reclamation projects and for participation by non-Federal agencies in Federal projects.

HR 2762 A bill to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to improve the protection of the Nation's wetlands and watersheds, and for other purposes.

S 1080 IS A bill to amend the National Aquaculture Act of 1980 to provide for the coordination and implementation of a national aquaculture policy for the private sector by the Secretary of Agriculture, to establish an aquaculture development and research program, and for other purposes.

HR 2068 IH A bill to provide for the establishment of a multiple-tier price support program for milk to assist milk producers to receive an adequate income from their dairy operations and to support long-term conservation practices by milk producers, while assuring sufficient low-cost dairy products for nutrition assistance programs.

S 1033 PCS An original bill making appropriations for Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies programs for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1998, and for other purposes.

HR 3595 IH A bill to reauthorize the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980.

Some GREAT links—there are only a few, but they cover all territory

Go to the word/phrase box once you get there. Stay away from specific bills once you get there, and take a look at more general legislation which effects the nation at large, and consequently, the world.

The Official Web Site of the Water Environment Federation (my personal favorite—might as well be called "The Web Site on Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Water Management…And MORE")

When you get there, click on "Regulations Legislation". They have weekly updates as well as less-recent updates on water regulation, etc. There are some fantastic links to government agencies with more information on this subject. You can also become a Capitol Contact and be contacted regularly about issues before Congress has an impact.

Take some action

If you want to get in contact with your congressmember, click on http://www.visi.com.juan/congress/, and you can do so. Here you can email, snail mail, phone, fax, or just let your voice be heard by someone who will listen and speak up for you in Washington.

In conclusion, I conclude, that this web page is concluded. THE END…no more. I spent some time on this, so I hope you played around, had fun, and learned a little somethin’ to take with you.
