Salt marshes are precious ecosystems that are major breeding grounds for invertebrates and
fish. The more they are destroyed, the more disrupted the rest of the world's food chain
becomes. Also, salt marshes are an integral part in the migration process of waterfowl.
Without a place to stop to rest and eat along their journey, birds would have a difficult,
if not impossible, time trying to go from north to south and back again.
