Critical Analysis of

 Health Issues: AIDS

There is no denying that AIDS has become a feared and prevalent disease.

AIDS is now worldwide, and has affected a vast number of people. In the United States and its dependent places alone, the cumulative estimated AIDS cases through 2006 was 1,014,797  people (1), AIDS is the stage of HIV when the immune system is at its weakest, when this happens other diseases and infections can easily enter the body. HIV is a virus that one can have for years over years without showing sickness. They look like any other healthy person and continue life unaware that they are carrying a deadly disease. Today, there is no cure for AIDS. Although there is no cure for HIV or AIDS there are treatments that can help people stay healthy longer, and there are preventative measures anyone can take in order to avoid contracting HIV.

While reflecting on my overall data regarding the different AIDS, HIV, and PLWA rates in each zip code within Westchester County it came to my attention that New Rochelle’s AIDS Rate, which is 92, was lower compared to the national AIDS rate, 342.
