Syringe Exchange Programs:

Finding any current existing HIV/AIDS programs in East Elmhurst became a difficult task because hardly any results were available when I tried to research it online.  This also poses another problem because people who may want to find out if any prevention programs exists in this area will be not be fully informed.  They may believe that no such programs exist.  Even after careful research, there is only one program that exists called, “Family-Centered HR/RR/RP for Active and Relapsing Alcohol and other Drug Users” located at four places in East Elmhurst.  However, these four places are located in Riker’s Island, a place isolated from the rest of East Elmhurst.  This program primarily provides harm reduction for alcohol and drug users, as well as support service but this area is inhabited mainly by prisoners.  Therefore, this program is of no help to the HIV/AIDS problem in main East Elmhurst.
