The AIDS cases seen downtown do not correlate with any of the
three tested economic variables. The correlation coefficient for
AIDS cases in respect to those living below the poverty line was
.250 while the correlation coefficient for AIDS cases in respect
to median household income was -.288, neither of which meet
.396.

While the downtown AIDS community has no specific economic
traits, the uptown AIDS community shows a considerable lack of
economic strength among its patients. The AIDS rate has a strong
negative relationship with median household income The -.617
correlation coefficient of AIDS Rate v. Median Household Income
shows how those with the highest incomes have the lowest AIDS
rates and those with the lowest incomes have the highest AIDS
rates. The correlation between AIDS rates and those living below
the poverty line backs the median income data as neighborhoods
with a high percentage living below the poverty line also have
the highest AIDS rates. |
