MALE-MALE UNMARRIED PARTNER HOUSEHOLDS

& CONCLUSION

I. Male-Male Unmarried Partner Households

As the AIDS epidemic first seriously sprung up in the gay community in America, and still greatly impacts this group, it is not surprising that such a substantial correlation (despite the greater amount of variation than in other graphs such as in, say, percent white) exists between these two variables. Moreover, 23.8% of cumulative AIDS cases in Fairfield County were as a result of this mode of transmission. (“Fairfield Co. AIDS Cases by Year of Report…”) Male–male unmarried partner households correlate with AIDS rates with a coefficient of .957. As show by the graph, the number of AIDS cases rises as the number of male-male unmarried partner households does as well. (Table 11)

II. Conclusion

In sum, the data presented in this paper suggest that the issues behind the AIDS epidemic are certainly complex. Clearly, Bridgeport has the most pressing problem, and should probably be given first priority when addressing AIDS in Fairfield County, Connecticut. However, the solutions will certainly be at least as complex as the issues that prompt them. Either way, the county must act soon to stem off the issue in this region.
