It is evident there are AIDS cases in Somerset County and that is a problem; however, I strongly believe the greater problem is the lack of exposure of its presence. Looking back, I am disappointed with the information taught in my high school health class and the misleading image the media portrayed to its viewers regarding AIDS. Although I am now aware of what my first impressions of AIDS were and understand what influenced those ideas, I am left unsatisfied. It worries me to think that the residents in my county, my friends and my family are oblivious to the deadly disease spreading in their backyard, and I want to help. I feel there is so much more to learn in order to truly grasp the AIDS crisis and I still have questions left unanswered.
